The background of Örreke
Örreke offers entertaining and creative craft activities for participants of all ages. In our workshops you can make practical and personalised items from simple materials.
In addition to the items, participants will receive new knowledge and positive emotions. We are committed to environmental awareness, recycling and using local raw materials.
Handicrafts have been a family tradition for generations. My grandmother taught me sock knitting and my mother sewed most of our clothes.
Ellinor Piipuu, our second grandmother, was the founder of Estonian garden ceramics. Her beautiful sculptures and utensils have been the jewels of our home.
I became a teacher of crafts and homemaking, and that passion lives on in the workshops at Örreke.
– Kadrin, the creator of Örreke
Where did Örreke get it's name?
Young birds love to perch on a straw, look down from above and learn life lessons. First-timers to our workshop are like young birds, thirsty for new knowledge and skills.
The Örreke generation has its roots in Saaremaa, where it’s said that the birds sit on the “ÖRREL”. That is where the name Örreke comes from.
